The new Saros series
Keeping an overview of the robot vacuum sector is not always easy. After all, there are not only many different manufacturers. Each manufacturer also offers several series. This is quite understandable. The companies want to offer suitable devices for the entry-level, mid-range and upper-range segments in order to get as big a slice of the successful robot vacuum market pie as possible. The best example is Roborock.
While a few years ago the manufacturer sold its mid-range devices in the Q series and its flagships in the S class, the range has recently grown. In addition to the Qrevo series, Roborock now also offers the Saros series. At CES 2025, the company presented the Saros 10, the Saros 10R and the Saros Z70. All three are true flagships in the upper robot class. We reveal what the Saros 10R has to offer below.

Roborock Saros 10R test: It could hardly be flatter
The Saros 10R impresses at first glance with its extremely flat design. With a height of less than 8 cm, the smart household helper can even drive under extremely flat furniture. This protects you from dust fluff under the couch or sideboard. How does this work? It’s quite simple. Roborock completely dispenses with a LiDAR turret. Instead, the navigation technology consisting of a 3D camera, LDS and ToF technology is located at the front/rear.
This is one of the major differences to the Saros 10, which, like the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete (Review | € 1,499.00 *), relies on a retractable LiDAR tower, which is intended to combine powerful LiDAR navigation with a flat design. It is therefore not surprising that the Saros 10R is cheaper than the Saros 10, and the view of the top of the robot is correspondingly clean.
Here you will only find two control buttons – one to start and pause the cleaning process and the home button to send the household helper back to its base station. Our test device comes in elegant black. Roborock uses a combination of matt and glossy black, which I really like. The material quality is also on a high level and corresponds to that of a Roborock Qrevo Master (Review | € 899.99 *).
A look at the underside reveals the DuoDivide roller brush. The name says it all. After all, Roborock divides the fully rubberized main brush into two parts without further ado. This system is supposed to work even better than the DuoRoller as we know it from the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra (Review | € 699.99 *). Roborock promises nothing less than a 100% success rate in preventing tangled hair.
The Robo also offers an extendable side brush. We can also find this in the Saros 10. However, there is a huge difference in the mopping function. While the Saros 10 relies on a classic vibrating mopping surface, the Saros 10R offers two rotating mops. I find it a little surprising that both models do not use mop pads. After all, this mopping method is now considered the gold standard.
The only exceptions in the flagship range are the Eufy S1 (Review | € 1,099.00 *) and Eufy S1 Pro (Review | € 1,149.00 *) models, which rely on mopping rollers. The Roborock Saros 10 has a highlight to offer in terms of mopping function. Not only can the mop be raised by up to 22 mm if required. The Robo can also extend the mop to provide effective edge cleaning. We have been familiar with the principle of the extendable mop since the introduction of the Dreame L20 Ultra (Review | € 999.00 *).
Roborock Saros 10R test: Elegant base station
As befits a contemporary flagship, the Saros 10 naturally also comes with a matching all-in-one station. At first glance, this impresses with its elegant appearance, which differs in parts from the Robo itself. In addition to the matt black that the vacuum cleaner itself has to offer, the station comes with a high-gloss front.
This may look stylish, but admittedly also makes a rather scratch-sensitive impression. A closer look reveals that Roborock divides the front into two individual covers. The smaller one at the bottom can be removed. This provides access to the dust bag and the detergent dispenser.
You can access the dirt and fresh water tanks from the top. Unfortunately, these are both quite small. The input for the mains plug and a practical cable guide are located at the back. In terms of functionality, the base station is right at the forefront. After each cleaning session, the station vacuums up the collected dirt. The garage for the Robo is located in the lower section of the base.
This is not only where the vacuum cleaner’s battery is charged. The two mops are also rinsed and re-moistened during cleaning to make floor cleaning as effective as possible. Furthermore, a more extensive mop wash takes place after cleaning.

The use of 80°C hot water effectively kills bacteria, which not only ensures hygiene, but also prevents the formation of unpleasant odors. To ensure that this works as reliably as possible, the two mops are then dried with hot air (55°C). All in all, I really like the combination of the Robo and the base, both visually and in terms of quality.
Roborock Saros 10R test: Navigation without LiDAR turrets
Admittedly: I was really skeptical about how the Saros 10R would reliably find its way around my four walls without a classic LiDAR tower. But Roborock claims to have come up with a suitable alternative with its Starsight 2.0 technology. Here, LiDAR sensors are located at the front and rear. In practice, the system has been able to score points with a detailed map.
Compared to current top models with LiDAR turrets, I found the Saros 10R to be a little slower when navigating. Nevertheless, it found its way around my own four walls very well. If quick cleaning trips are important to you, you should keep this in mind. Personally, it doesn’t really bother me in practice whether a vacuum cleaner takes 15 minutes longer or not. After all, I’m not usually in the area to be cleaned when a cleaning tour is in progress anyway.

Starsight is not only used for navigation, but also for obstacle detection. I was really pleasantly surprised when I looked at the map on my smartphone. After all, the device recognized specific objects such as my dog and even a flat cable. Both were marked on the map and reliably avoided. In practice, the Saros 10R delivered the best obstacle detection I have ever seen from a Roborock.

From time to time, however, obstacles were touched lightly. However, as the obstacle detection is AI-supported, this should improve tour by tour. Future software updates may also improve this. If you have high expectations here, we advise you to take a look at theNarwhal Freo Z Ultra (Review | € 899.00 *).
Roborock Saros 10R test: Roborock app
The Roborock app is one of the best the robot vacuum market has to offer. It scores points with newcomers with a great overview and still offers professionals numerous setting options. The quick setup is particularly ingenious.
Once you have downloaded the app, simply click on the plus sign to add a new device. Now scan the QR code on the Robo, enter your WiFi data and the device will be in your network in a flash.
Before you start playing around with the settings, you should let the vacuum cleaner carry out an initial quick mapping tour. You can then make adjustments according to your wishes. In addition to a cleaning schedule, parameters such as suction and wiping power can also be adjusted.
You can also specify whether the Saros 10R should only vacuum, only mop or do both. You can also make essential settings for the base station. For example, you can regulate how long the hot air drying should last after the mop wash.
Roborock Saros 10R test: Powerful cleaning meets all-terrain mobility
When it comes to powerful and effective cleaning performance, Roborock, together with Dreame, is considered the non-plus-ultra in the field of robot vacuum cleaners. And the Saros 10R also lives up to this reputation. This is ensured by several features. The powerful suction power of 19,000 Pascal ensures comprehensive suction performance on hard floors and carpets. By comparison, the former flagship Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is significantly weaker at 6,000 Pascal.
The high suction power ensures that not a speck of dust or animal hair stands a chance on hard floors. But the Robo is even more impressive on carpets. Thanks to its sheer power, it can even vacuum deep down dirt out of long-fibered carpets. Cleaning along skirting boards, furniture edges and in corners is also impressive. This is thanks to two tried-and-tested features – the extendable mop and the extendable side brush.
As the owner of two cats and a dog who love to shed, the Roborock had to deal with a challenging amount of pet hair on my floors. This is where the innovative design of the main brush showed what it’s made of. If hair winds up on the brush, it is passed on to the space between the red and black brush halves to be sucked up afterwards. The mopping performance is also excellent.
The two mops can remove even stubborn stains thanks to the use of warm mop water. The whole thing becomes even more effective if you add cleaning agent to the corresponding container. The Saros 10R automatically adds this to the fresh water. Roborock has implemented a comprehensive lifting function to prevent accidental moistening of carpets when mopping. This means that not only the mops, side brush and main brush can be lifted.
The Saros 10R can also lift the entire chassis. This allows the Robo to cross thresholds with a height of up to 4 cm. Here, however, the Dreame X50 Ultra is slightly ahead. After all, the competitor can overcome obstacles up to 6 cm high. However, Roborock’s all-wheel drive concept is exciting. As the wheels on the Saros 10R can be raised independently of each other, the smart household helper can even cross complex obstacles such as U-shaped chair legs.
Conclusion
The Roborock Saros 10R proves to be a powerful and innovative vacuum and mopping robot that scores with an impressive suction power of 19,000 Pascal, a sophisticated all-wheel drive and advanced mopping technology. Particularly noteworthy is its flat design, which can even get under low furniture thanks to the clever positioning of the navigation technology. Despite not having a LiDAR tower, you can rely on reliable navigation and obstacle detection.
The high-quality base station with hot water mop washing and hot air drying rounds off the overall package. The Roborock Saros 10R is a first-class choice for anyone looking for a smart household helper with powerful cleaning performance, excellent mopping function, flat design, great navigation and convenient app control. This is especially true for households with pet hair.
